Even if you fed fruit trees and shrubs during the growing season (spring, summer), in the fall you need to add basic nutrients to the soil: phosphorus, potassium, a small amount of nitrogen for root growth and missing microelements.
In autumn, it is better to apply organic fertilizers to trees and shrubs.
Organic fertilizers
It is best to use organic fertilizers for autumn fertilizing. If you can add manure to the soil at least once every 2-3 years, soil fertility will be at the proper level. This is one of the best fertilizers. All the substances necessary for the plant are contained in manure in fairly balanced doses.
No manure - add bird droppings, wood ash, compost. You can completely provide your plants with compost. Weeds, plant debris, kitchen waste - put everything in a compost heap, add soil, ash, and water periodically. And in the fall, everything that has rotted goes under the trees. Large leftovers are put back into the pile until they are completely overheated.
Particles that are not completely decomposed can be added to the soil in the fall - over the winter they will reach condition.
Planting green manure in the garden
Good soil fertilization are green manures. In terms of effectiveness, they are equal to manure.
Planting green manure replaces the addition of organic matter.
Dig up or lightly loosen the soil in the trunk circles of shrubs and between trees and sow peas, oats with vetch, mustard, phacelia, and other fast-growing herbs in early September. In about two months, your garden will be covered with a solid green carpet. Work the lush green mass into the soil and you won't need to add organic fertilizer in the spring.
Organic garden fertilizers are useful because they contain more than 30 different substances. Some of them are absorbed immediately, others are gradually decomposed by soil microorganisms and nourish plants for many years.
Mineral fertilizers
Is it worth feeding trees and shrubs with mineral fertilizers? Do garden plants need them? Needed in urgent need and in limited quantities. Be careful with them, given the ecology of the current environment, which is already oversaturated with various chemical elements.
The main rule of any feeding is not to overfeed.
In order for the applied mineral fertilizers to benefit the plants, the soil must have enough organic matter. It is food for the microflora that lives in the soil and revitalizes it. On soils poor in organic matter, even the best mineral fertilizers will be ineffective.
In order for plants to fully use nutrients, regular watering, loosening the soil, and correct and timely pruning of the crown are necessary. And the conducting tissues of the trunk and branches must be healthy.
