Characteristics of varieties

Radish varieties differ in terms of ripening, shape and color of the root crop, large-fruited size and method of cultivation.

According to ripening time Radishes are divided into:

  • early - ready within 20-25 days. Ultra early ripening, Krasa, 18 days, Alyoshka, Cranberry in sugar, Children's, Globus, Sprinter;
  • mid-season - ready time 25-30 days. This radish produces tails much less and its yield of marketable products is greater than that of earlier varieties. Root crops tolerate transportation well and are suitable for long-term storage (10-20 days). Varieties: Greenhouse Gribovsky, Alba, Krasa Altaya, Anabel, Dabel, Zarnitsa, Vera, Belokrayka, White Fang, Zolotse, Quick, Crimson Giant Globe, Saksa;
  • late - ripening period 31-50 days. There are very few late varieties; there is practically no targeted selection of them. Radishes are still a fast-growing root vegetable. Varieties: Vulcan, Octave, Autumn Giant, Roxanne, Rondo.

Ripening dates are highly dependent on the weather, although they fit within the time frame for the varieties.

By shape the crop can be round (the vast majority of varieties), elongated-cylindrical (Mizinchik, Polinka, Icicle) or elliptical (Mulatka, Autumn Giant). Most varieties with cylindrical and elliptical roots are classified as medium or late.

By colorIt can be red, red with a white tip, burgundy, purple, dark brown, yellow and white.

By large fruit size It can be small - the weight of the root crop is less than 20 g, medium - 20-25 g and large - more than 26 g.

By method The crop can be grown in greenhouses or grown in open ground. In general, all radishes can be grown in open ground, but not every variety will produce a good harvest in a greenhouse.
