What kind of Shosha F1 cucumber is this: characteristics, description of the variety, photos, reviews

The Shosha cucumber hybrid, which will be discussed below, was bred by Russian breeders, and is currently one of the most popular varieties for growing in garden beds and in film greenhouses.

The cucumber hybrid Shoshu was bred by domestic breeders, who subsequently tested the new variety in garden beds, in greenhouse conditions and in film greenhouses. Basically, these tests were carried out in the Non-Black Earth regions, because this variety of cucumbers was bred specifically for cultivation in the Non-Black Earth zone. After the variety tests, the new hybrid was included in the Russian State Register and recommended for cultivation in garden beds and in film greenhouses.

Description of the variety

The lashes of this hybrid are medium-sized, the central shoot grows to a height of 1.5-1.9 m. The roots of this cucumber variety are strong and powerful, the side shoots do not grow long.

The Shosha cucumber is parthenocarpic, with the formation of only female flowers on the vines, and they do not require pollination by bees. With good care, you can collect up to 18 kg of ripe greens from each square of area.

In one short internode, 3-4 greens are formed, but more often no more than 2 buds are formed in a node.

Description of fruits

According to the description, the cucumber hybrid Shosha has a thin crispy skin, genetically devoid of bitterness.

Shosha cucumbers

The greens of this hybrid are classified as salad greens; the taste of ripe cucumbers is good. The surface is covered with small tubercles with a large number of small light spikes, its color is dark emerald.

The pulp is slightly compacted, tender and juicy, light green in color. The shape of ripe greens is elongated, the length of the fruit is 10 cm, and the diameter is 3 cm. The weight of gherkins is about 50 g. The seeds in cucumbers are at the stage of milk maturity, even in ripe fruits.

Characteristics of the variety

The main advantages of the variety are good yield and excellent taste of ripe greens.Gardeners generally speak positively about the main qualities of this hybrid:

Olesya, 40 years old, Belgorod region

Of all the early varieties of cucumbers that I grew in my garden beds, the best is the Shosha hybrid. It takes about 1.5 months from the moment the seedlings emerge to the harvesting of the first greens. The yield is high, there are enough tasty fruits for food and for preservation.

Marina, 50 years old, Volgograd region

For many years I have been growing cucumbers for further sale of the crop. Of the early varieties, I have been growing only the Shoshu hybrid for several years. I water and feed the bushes of this variety in a timely manner; as a result, from 1 m2 I collect at least 18 kg of tender, smooth gherkins. My products are snapped up by buyers literally within an hour, no matter how much I bring.

Productivity

The Shosha hybrid bears fruit better in greenhouse conditions, although vegetable growers also harvest good harvests in garden beds with good care.

From the moment the seed material germinates until the first gherkins are harvested, a little less than 1.5 months pass.

For good yield, it is important not to thicken the plantings - it is not recommended to plant more than 3 plants per square area.

Cucumber harvest

If vegetable growers follow the rules of agricultural technology and properly care for Shosha cucumber bushes, then 13-18 kg of ripe produce can be harvested from each square of area.

The fruiting of the variety directly depends on temperature and humidity, as well as on the stability of weather conditions. Therefore, the yields collected from cucumber vines in greenhouse conditions are higher than in garden beds, because it is easier to maintain a certain temperature and humidity in a greenhouse.

When storing the harvested crop in a cool place, greens can be preserved for up to 12-14 days. Greens also tolerate transportation well at any distance.

Although the Shosha hybrid is classified as a salad type, the fruits are distinguished by their universal use. Small cucumbers collected at the gherkin stage are perfect for pickling and pickling, as well as for other home preservation.

Disease resistance

Another advantage of this hybrid is its fairly high resistance to most diseases characteristic of other cucumber varieties. Hybrid Shosha is resistant to the following diseases:

  • cucumber mosaic;
  • yellowing of the veins on greens;
  • powdery mildew.

Some pests can attack cucumber vines of this variety, in particular the leaf roller. To prevent the appearance of pests, it is necessary to carry out a number of preventive measures.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Reviews from vegetable growers about this variety are mostly good. Among the positive qualities it should be noted:

  • wonderful taste of fruits;
  • versatility of using the harvested crop;
  • greens can be stored in a cool place for at least 12-14 days;
  • the harvested crop can be transported to any distance.

Agricultural technology for growing hybrid Shosha

Thanks to the efforts of breeders, this cucumber hybrid can be grown in greenhouse conditions, as well as in cucumber beds. The main thing is to grow seedlings correctly and provide the plants with proper care in the future.

Cucumber seedlings

Cucumbers of this variety can be grown in seedlings and without seedlings.

Seedling growing method

To grow seedlings, the seeds should be placed in separate cups, since this crop does not tolerate frequent transplants. A purchased nutrient substrate is placed in small containers, the seeds are buried approximately 1.5-2 cm and watered.

From the moment of germination of the seed material until the plants are transplanted to a permanent place, about 25-28 days should pass. Therefore, seedlings of this variety of cucumbers should be grown no earlier than the second ten days of April.
A week before planting strong seedlings in a permanent place, they are hardened. To do this, containers with seedlings are taken out into the fresh air, first for a short time, gradually increasing the time the seedlings are outside to 5-6 hours.

Cucumber seedlings in the garden

You can plant seedlings in the beds only when the daily air temperature remains consistently at least 17ºC.

Before planting, you should prepare the beds - when digging, add humus and bird droppings to the soil.

Important! No more than 4-5 plants are planted per square of area.

Seedless method of planting cucumbers

Shosha cucumber seeds are planted directly in open ground at such a time that young plants are not damaged by spring return frosts. Usually, seed material is planted in the soil no earlier than mid-April.

The best predecessors for this cucumber hybrid will be the following crops:

  • legumes;
  • early cabbage;
  • onion;
  • garlic;
  • green crops.

The soil on the site is prepared in advance - dug up, fertilizers are applied, since this cucumber loves light, loose and fertile soil.
20-22 days after preparing the beds, you can sow the seed material.

Young cucumbers

If agricultural practices are followed, the variety produces good yields

To get a high yield from Shosha cucumber, you must follow certain care rules:

  • Plants should be watered little by little, but every day;
  • during the growth of the vegetative mass of the bushes, liquid fertilizers are applied to the beds;
  • To make it easier to care for the lashes and harvest crops, the lashes are tied to trellises.

Formation of bushes

Form a bush into one stem. The lowest 3-4 leaves are removed along with the shoots and ovary. All subsequent stepsons are pinched after 2-3 leaves. The top of the shoot is allowed to outgrow the trellis by 40-60 cm and is also pinched. Thus, the entire crop is formed on the central stem.

Reviews from gardeners

Maria, Samara Region

This is not the first season I have been growing Shosha cucumbers. I like the early ripening of the variety, the excellent taste of the fruit, and the possibility of canning greens at the stage of pickles and gherkins. I recommend growing this variety to everyone.

Tatiana, Saratov

I would like to note that the Shosha hybrid quickly increases the vegetative mass, it is better to tie the growing canes to trellises, and also regularly collect ripe hearths so that new ovaries are more actively formed.

Cucumber bush in a greenhouse

Olga, Ryazan

I really like the Shosha cucumber variety - such an early-ripening hybrid, with small, even greens. I collect the fruits at the pickle stage and pickle them in liter jars - during the winter, these are the pickled cucumbers that my family eats first.

Svetlana, Chelyabinsk region

In my greenhouse I always leave a couple of beds under Shoshu. It bears fruit well with minimal care. The main thing is that the greenhouse is dry and warm. The only pity is that this is a hybrid, and seed material cannot be collected from the fruits for further planting.

Conclusion

The cucumber hybrid Shosha is high-yielding and early-ripening. That is why this cucumber is so popular among vegetable growers from different Russian regions. It can be grown on an industrial scale and in private gardens or in film greenhouses.

  1. Shosha F1 cucumber is grown using seedlings or direct planting in the soil. In any case, do not allow the beds to become crowded. In the exhaust gas there are 3-4 plants per 1 sq. m, in a greenhouse or greenhouse - no more than 3. For normal development, a powerful and tall bush definitely needs trellises. Collect fruits on time, do not allow cucumbers to outgrow more than 12 cm. Although cucumbers do not tend to exceed the stated length and thickness.
