Features of growing Dutch cucumbers
Dutch varieties are suitable for southern and temperate climates. For different regions of Russia, the timing of planting seeds is the end of April-May.
When growing Dutch cucumber varieties, the following features should be taken into account:
- Regular and abundant watering.
- Mandatory addition of soil to the roots, which are exposed after watering, in order to stimulate the growth of additional roots.
- Plant in a bright place, warmed by the sun, protected from the wind.
- Preparing the beds in the fall: removing weeds, loosening, fertilizing with superphosphate and potassium sulfate.
- Maintaining crop rotation. Cucumbers develop well after nightshades, legumes, and cabbage. Cucumbers should not be planted after zucchini and pumpkins.
- Systematic collection of cucumbers as they ripen, after 2-3 days. This stimulates the formation of new ovaries and increases productivity.
- Regular feeding.
- It is not recommended to plant cucumbers in soil with high acidity.
Reviews from gardeners about Dutch selection cucumbers
Maria B., Tver:
I only choose Dutch cucumbers. They do not have any special care requirements. Germination rate – 100%. Every three days I harvest. The fruits do not overgrow and do not become bitter. I recommend
Galina, Nizhny Novgorod
I only plant Dutch seeds. I also have cucumbers (I love Bettina, Marinda), they never disappoint... The seeds in the bags are selected, even, germination is almost always 100%. It is very rare that a sprout will not sprout; usually 10 out of 10 seeds sprout...
Boris, Omsk region
I sow Dutch hybrids for an early harvest. I sow our Russian seeds for planting so that they will go later, but foreigners produce good fruits already at the beginning of June. I have a glass greenhouse, I also installed heating, so the cucumbers are comfortable and warm. I plant Madita, Karina, I really like Baby Mini, she goes for salads...
Ruzilya, Almetyevsk
I grow up to 6-8 different varieties and hybrids on the plot.I really love the Lord and Marinda cucumbers, which bear fruit abundantly in any season. Dutch varieties are very productive and do not require any special care. But the bad thing is that you have to buy them every year, and bags of seeds are expensive. True, the costs pay off, and one bag is enough for a couple of seasons.
